Honoring Married Couples at York! Black Marriage Day is celebrated all over the country on the 4th Sunday in March. It’s dedicated to celebrating the importance of marriage in the Black community and honoring couples that have led by example, holding together their marriages, and whose enduring bond inspires us. A framed poem was presented to couples Mr. & Mrs. Leslie Cox, Mr. & Mrs. John Smith, and Mr.& Mrs. Edward Treadwell, who had been married the longest by Pat McCoy and Mikiko Mckinnon of the Iota Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

Senior Citizen Day In April, the church had its first Senior Citizen Sunday. The Board of Christian Education (BCE) recognized on behalf of the church our members which included the sick & shut-in, that were at least sixty-five years old by honoring them with recognition, a certificate, and a poem during church service. Afterwards, our seniors enjoyed a wholesome dinner with families and friends in the fellowship hall. We thank God for more than 40 of our senior citizen’s attendance at this great occasion!
