Rev. Lester Andrews Jacobs, Jr. was born in Columbus County North Carolina March 21, 1952. He is the oldest of 12 children born to Mary Louise Melvin Jacobs. He was his father's, Lester A. Jacobs Sr., pride and joy. He was raised from the age of nine by his grand mother Mrs. Laura Mitchell Melvin in Bolton, N.C., where he was a faithful member of the Lees' Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
He graduated from ACME Delco High School in 1970, and began work at El DuPont at Wilmington, N.C., where he worked for nearly 11 years. His oldest son, Ronald Butler, A grand daughter Ebony, grand son Ceasar, and great grand son Jaden. He married Audrey Louise Jacobs in 1971 and together they have three children, Lester Levone (Angela), Deldannle (Fredrick), and Leevater. He is the grandfather of Lexus Steel, and Cameron Jacobs; Kalen Tims and Tameah Leewis; Joel, and Jasmine Brown.
In 1981, he left El DuPont and entered the full time ministry. He attended Southeastern Community College where he received an Arts Degree. He continued his education at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where he received his Bachelors Degree in Philosophy and Religion. He has attended various local and national Leadership Training Institutes in preparation for the Christian Ministry, and continues to pursue his studies.
He entered the pastoral ministry in 1973 and served the following churches:
- St. Matthew A.M.E. Zion Church, Goldsboro, N.C. (1975 to 1981)
- Millers Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Elroy, N.C. (1978 to 1981)
- St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, Whiteville, N.C. (1981 to 1986)
- Price Cathedral A.M.E. Zion Church, Wilmington, N.C. (1986 to 1994)
- Talbot Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Pensacola, Fl. (1994 to 2009)
- York Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Greenville, N.C. (March 1, 2009)
As a pastor he always worked hard to leave each church better than he found them, especially the Talbot Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Pensacola, Flordia, where the church was totally renovated, due to damages caused by hurricane Ivan in September of 2004.
His hobby is fishing, and working on his project cars. He enjoys to travel and being involved in the various community affairs. He has served in numerous community organizations and received many plaques and awards for his leadership ability. In all that we can say concerning this servant of God, we know that he loves God, His Family, His Church, and People in general. He is a dynamic preacher of the Gospel and he is excited about his journey with Christ, which has taken him to many parts of this country and the world.
