York Memorial Welcome''s Rev. & Mrs. Avery C. Brown!

Reverend Avery C. Brown, Sr. is the current Pastor of York Memorial AME Zion Church in Greenville, North Carolina. Reverend Brown is married to Mrs. Theria Glover Brown of Greensboro, North Carolina. Reverend Brown is a father of four children: Dwight Carlton Patterson, January Janielle Brown, Jacki Lynne Brown, and Avery C. Brown, Jr.

Reverend Brown recieved his high school diploma from Fairview High School in Dayton, Ohio in 1972. He then ventured to receive his Bachelor''s Degree from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas in 1976. In 1979 Reverend Brown graduated from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey with a Masters of Divinity Degree. In 1989, Reverend Brown received a Masters in Theology from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and a Doctorate Degree from Apex School of Theology in 2001. Reverend Brown continued his studies at Duke University, Hampton Institute, Navy Chaplain Schools, Shalem Institute, and Duke University Spiritual Formation Program.

Revered Brown has received many awards and achievements throughout his studies and career. They include but are not limited to: Fairview High School Basketball Letterman; Fairview High Track Letterman; Honorable Mention All-City Basketball; Texas Wesleyan University Basketball Letterman; 1979 Outstanding Young Men of America; Crusade Scholarship Recipient 1978-79; Navy Sea Service Ribbon; Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon; Navy Expeditionary Medal with Globe and Anchor; and the 2004 Outstanding Professionals of America.

Reverend Brown is a man of many interests. A few of his interests include but are not limited to: Spiritual Growth; Reading; Swimming; Chess; and American Church History.

Reverend Brown is a teacher but most of all a lover of God''s Word. If he could choose a favorite scripture it would be: "Now show me your glory" Exodus 33:18.
